The financial crisis silenced 58 media outlets in Kurdistan's second largest city



Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Sulaymaniyah office of the Union of Journalists of the Kurdistan Region said that the financial crisis has led to the suspension of some 58 media outlets to work in the second biggest city in the region.

The Kurdistan Region is witnessing since the 2014 financial crisis resulted in the stoppage of thousands of investment projects and lay off a lot of workers in the private and public institutions.


The union said in a report that about 58 video and audio formats and readable media organization was shut down during the current year in the city of Sulaymaniyah.


Among the tools that stopped ten newspapers and 35 magazine.

And affecting the media sector by the crisis that erupted since Baghdad severed Kurdistan's share of the federal budget in conjunction with the collapse of oil prices and spending on the war against al Daesh.
