The medal was presented by the representative of the US Treasury Department in Iraq, John Sullivan, at a farewell ceremony organized by the Association at its headquarters in Baghdad Wednesday night on the occasion of the end of his duties in Iraq.
The ceremony was attended by a number of directors of the boards of government and private Iraqi banks and officials of the Association, including its Executive Director
During the ceremony, they stressed the need to continue cooperation and coordination between the US Treasury Department and the Iraqi government and private banks to achieve their common goal of establishing direct working links between Iraqi and US banks and opening accounts for each other.
US Treasury Representative John Sullivan pledged to make a double effort to achieve this goal, which the two sides sought to achieve through a series of meetings between them in recent months.
During which he briefed the US Treasury delegation on the development witnessed by Iraqi banks in the field of compliance with international standards in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing
