   Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Parliament speaker Salim al-Jubouri announced on Saturday that preparations for a political settlement project would soon begin, adding that it was necessary to carry out national reconciliation in northern Iraq.

Jabouri said in a speech during the central celebration held by the Supreme Council on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Muhammad Baqir al-Hakim, followed by al-Marb, he said during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations yesterday touched the support and welcome and readiness of the international organization to be sponsor and guarantor of the draft political settlement, Coming in the direction of activating detailed dialogues and putting practical procedural steps in time-bound time limits for the completion of the first settlement stage.

Jubouri added that it was necessary to start the project of genuine national reconciliation in order to fulfill the blood of the martyrs and leave all doubt, hesitation and confidence to be able to pass the stage.

"It is time to start the real movement towards completing the practical measures related to the historic settlement, preceded by confidence-building measures that include respect for the other and not pre-condition or selective exceptions to that party or party," he said.

Al-Jubouri pointed out that "the war against Da'ash in the last stage and the rupture between the Iraqis has exhausted a lot of effort and money," stressing that "should not fall into the trap of skipping one side or the other and must believe in the unity of Iraq and sovereignty in dialogues."
