UNHCR confirms its readiness to hold provincial elections

   The Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Electoral Commission, Kataa Zobaie, the readiness of the Commission from the logistical, technical and administrative, to hold provincial elections on schedule on the sixteenth of September next, noting that UNHCR cut about 70% of the schedule without any significant obstacles , Especially after the federal government spent the necessary funds to conduct those elections.

   Al-Zobaie revealed during his statement to the Murad about the contract two weeks ago with a Korean company to provide the Commission with electronic ballot box, which works according to counting system and sorting through a scanner that sends the results of the ballot paper once placed inside the Fund to the National Center for counting and sorting without the need for any human element.

   "This will contribute to the acceleration of the announcement of the results of the ballot throughout the country within 3 to 5 hours, adding that this will strengthen the work of the Commission and end the need for manual counting and sorting, which was pushing the Commission to contract with about 400 thousand employees, With the number now, and rely only on the staff of the UNHCR, he said.

   "Monitors will be set up for observers and political entities and the candidate can observe the gradual rise of his votes directly through television channels," he said, adding that the shipment of ballot boxes and their arrival in Iraq will be within 120 days through a technical team sent to Korea for that purpose.
