{Jordanian-Iraqi Business} agrees to establish a joint coordination office

The Jordanian-Iraqi Joint Business Council stressed the need to enhance trade exchange between the two countries, the importance of exchanging trade exhibitions, organizing an annual investment forum, and the participation of Jordanian companies in hospital projects under construction.

This came during a meeting between the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan Safia Al-Suhail and the members of the Council who agreed on the need to form partnerships for vital sectors projects through enhancing the role of the Council in introducing the opportunities and available investment potentials and exchanging information on laws, trade movement, industrial production and export.

Al-Suhail pointed out that Iraq is winning every day on terrorism and has a plan for the reconstruction of the liberated areas of the gang "Da'ash", stressing the need to address the obstacles that prevent the development of the two countries' trade relations, especially on granting visas to facilitate tourism and medical tourism. Expressing the hope that the Jordanian companies will participate in the reconstruction.

Al-Suhail pointed to the strategic projects that bring together the two countries, especially the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline, pointing out that it will establish great economic relations between the two sides, especially in the oil industry sector.

The members of the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council pointed to the need for Jordanian companies to enter into housing projects as part of a mechanism to achieve the objectives of the two parties, and to allow these companies to work within the logistics area on the common border, to establish common land ports facilitating the flow of goods, Of the Iraqi experience and increase the recruitment of Jordanian cadres.

It was agreed to establish a joint coordination office under the umbrella of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce to coordinate the work of the Council, establish an arbitration committee and proceed with the necessary legal procedures.
Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Nael Kabariti, stressed the importance of finding effective tools that contribute to the activation of trade exchange, reflecting the possibilities available, and work to remove any restrictions or difficulties that hinder the flow of goods between the two countries.

In turn, the Director General of the border crossings, Major General Sami Sudanese: The Iraqi government is keen to provide all the support and facilities, to maintain the work of the border crossings with Jordan, and stressed that the reopening of the crossing is a matter of time, after completion of procedures to secure and rehabilitate the road from the border to Baghdad, To the presence of Iraqi government interest in the computerization and automation of customs procedures at the Iraqi border crossings, to facilitate the movement of trade between the two countries.

For his part, President of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Jafar al-Hamdani pointed to the difficulties facing the trade movement between the two countries, especially the border areas, and stressed the need to work together to eliminate the gangs "Daash" terrorist, and find solutions to the problems facing the two countries' trade relations, pointing out that official meetings Which was held in Iraq during the past months, established for strategic economic relations between the two countries.

Al-Hamdani stressed the desire of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce to expand the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council to include all economic sectors in order to solve the problems facing the private sector. He pointed out that there is a common interest in reopening the Trebil crossing and the easy return of trucks and goods. And soft.

For his part, Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry Adnan Abu Ragheb pointed out the importance of opening the crossings in enhancing investment relations between businessmen and activating the road transport process and facilitating the flow of goods between the two countries and reducing the high prices of Jordanian goods to the Iraqi consumer due to high transport costs due to the closure of Trebil .

The Chairman of the Chamber of Industry, Ziad Al-Homsi, called for the necessity of activating the bilateral agreement signed between the two countries to allow Jordanian products to enter the Iraqi market without fees or taxes.

On the other hand, experts stressed that the new ports of Aqaba capable and qualified to deal with the Iraqi oil pipeline project, which runs from Basra to the port of Aqaba.

The Aqaba Development Company (ADC) has given great importance to this project by holding more than 3000 dunums to create additional oil reservoirs especially for the Iraqi oil pipeline. The Jordanian ports are highly prepared to deal with any additional quantities of oil.
