May 26, 2017 Mnt Goat News Brief

Hi Everyone,

I bring you much news today.

So I need to start off today and tell you that we did hear of news of only one more village that needed liberation the fight to regain Mosul, Iraq. This news came over last weekend. So what happened? Is this effort now all done?

It is confusing to get a firm answer to this question. Some military leaders tell us it is all completed, some other say not yet, then give a timeframe. When the timeframe passes, you assume it is all done. But then out pops yet more information of more fighting.

My conclusion is they are having a very difficult time dislodging the final groups of ISIS. There is much they don’t want us to know and are hiding from us. The govt needs to keep pretending as though they are in control but this is not true. They must show the world their strength to defend themselves.

How long will this attitude continue?

It will continue as long as necessary to hide and cover up the delay to move forward with the economic reforms, as they know they must go full speed ahead with the “project to delete the zeros”, revalue the currency and begin the launching of the new notes. Are they ready?

We know that some of the automated Teller Machines (ATM) already have been loaded with the lower denominations. They are supposed to be switched off and in some cases the citizens were able to receive funds from them. These notes are virtually worthless without a significant increase in their value. So this too adds to the confusion and misperception that the RV happened, since some have the new notes. As usual this is only a “screw up” on the part of the banks, as in Iraq anything is possible.

My understanding is that all the CBI is now waiting for is to get the approval or the “green light” from the GOI. Earlier this week I showed you many articles as evidence that this debate and decision making was now going on. These articles were from economists and governmental advisors.

So now we just sit and wait to see what happens.

As always my comments are in italic RED.

Infallible and Hakim discuss the importance of accompanying military victory political one

(two items in the article to pay attention to. 1. Its is from Friday 5/26 and 2. It says and I quote “and the near victory over Daesh”, this means it is NOT yet completed.)

Roudao - Arbil

Search Chairman of the National Alliance , Mr. Ammar al -Hakim and the President of the Republic Fuad Masum, on Friday, the post ISIS victory over the terrorist gangs Daesh and achieve societal harmony, and focus on the accompanying military victory a political victory of Iraq emerges from the current crises.

A statement for the presidency of the coalition, seen by Roudao media network today that "Mr. Ammar al- Hakim , head of the National Alliance met President Fuad Masum , the last office in Baghdad, and discussed with him developments in the political and security situation and the near victory over Daesh terrorist."

He added that "Iraq 's need for development plans, economic and social, is working on the investment status of societal rejection of terrorism in all its forms as discussed with the President of the Republic of national reconciliation as a file through the National Alliance seen realistic based on the basis of concessions to Iraq map".

Saudi Arabia, Iraq discuss Economic Cooperation

Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi received the Saudi Arabian Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, Khalid bin Abdul Aziz al-Faleh, and his accompanying delegation in his office on Monday.

During the meeting, they discussed boosting cooperation in the oil sector, industry, petrochemicals, electricity, minerals, trade and banks, as well as reviewed cooperation to support OPEC oil prices.

His Excellency Prime minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi stressed the importance of expanding bilateral steady cooperation for the benefit of the two countries which would lead the region to a comprehensive development beneficial for all.

The Minister of Energy Khalid Al-Falih conveyed the greetings of the Saudi King and the officials in the Kingdom , their blessing for the achievement of Iraq’s victories, pointing out that to the importance of Iraq’s role in the region and the strenuous steps taken in all fields.

The Minister of Energy Khalid Al-Falih expressed the readiness of the Saudi companies to cooperate and invest in Iraq and Saudi’s market desire to obtain Iraqi products.

(The problem with many of these developing countries is not about having great wealth, but having the wealth still buried in the ground in the form of much needed minerals and resources and no technology or $$ to get it to market.  So they will need assistance from other more developed countries to extract this wealth and bring it to market. Zimbabwe too is yet another example on the list of these countries besides Iraq. So now we see Iraq tapping into Saudi companies for this purpose. We have also already seen agreements with Japan, China, Kuwait and others.)

OPEC price goes up despite market’s downward trend

The price of OPEC basket of thirteen crudes stood at $51.50 a barrel on Monday, compared with $50.87 the previous Friday, according to OPEC Secretariat calculations.

The OPEC Reference Basket of Crudes (ORB) is made up of the following: Saharan Blend (Algeria), Girassol (Angola), Oriente (Ecuador), Rabi Light (Gabon), Iran Heavy (Islamic Republic of Iran), Basra Light (Iraq), Kuwait Export (Kuwait), Es Sider (Libya), Bonny Light (Nigeria), Qatar Marine (Qatar), Arab Light (Saudi Arabia), Murban (UAE) and Merey (Venezuela).

This comes as oil prices fell on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed the sale of half the country’s strategic oil reserves, according to Reuters.

Brent crude futures LCOc1 were trading down 43 cents, or 0.8 percent, at $53.44 per barrel at 0643 GMT.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures CLc1 were at $50.71, down 42 cents, or 0.8 percent.

(I bring you this article because I need to explain something to you related to the price of oil. It is hard for Iraq to agree to an RV, then we go to the bank and exchange our dinar. Our dinar then goes towards oil credits from Iraq at a very low fixed price. Some say as low as $32/barrel. I do not know the exact amount but it is low. So why would Iraq RV, then have to sell oil so low, when they are now struggling to meet their deficit and fight ISIS at the same time. Get it? Do you see the reluctance and why they do, but don’t want to RV? They know they must RV if they are ever to be a global player. So this is only one driving force that they know they must overcome and diversify their economy, grow their economy at least enough to allow this event to occur. Just food for thought….)

US general: Kurdistan’s independence is only ‘matter of time‘

The independence of Kurdistan Region from Iraq has become only a matter of time, the director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency Lieutenant General Vincent R. Stewart said in a US media statement on Tuesday.

The Kurds are planning to hold a referendum towards the independence to determine their destiny this year.

Stewart’s statement coincided with the high-level Kurdish delegation headed by President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani visit to Washington to discuss with the decision makers in the White House about security and political issues, including the referendum issue.

Prominent Iraqi politician Hajim al-Housni commented on Kurdistan region’s referendum saying that he has known that the Kurdish people want to establish their own independent state.

He added that this requires negotiations between Baghdad and Erbil.

Parliament postpones amnesty amendment and reads law for parliamentary elections

The House of Representatives ended yesterday, the first reading of the draft law the first amendment to the law of the elections of the House of Representatives, while postponing the vote on the draft amendment to the first law of amnesty.

Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jubouri announced the completion of the formalities of six requests for questioning.

This came during the session of the House of Representatives thirty-sixth held on Tuesday, headed by Jubouri and attended by 170 deputies, according to a statement.

The session witnessed the vote on a draft law to include the Judicial Institute to the Supreme Judicial Council with the aim of linking the Judicial Institute with the Higher Judicial Council as the body responsible for the preparation of judges and prosecutors.

The Council also proceeded to vote on the draft reform of the inmates and depositors, to be completed at a later session after the quorum.

During the session, MP Amer al-Khuzai, chairman of the committee of experts on the selection of the Electoral Commission Council, said that the committee “after intensive meetings completed the completion of the first phase to sort the candidates of the number of 118 candidates.” “The legislative holiday will be invested to send letters to the relevant state institutions on the eligibility of candidates for membership of the Commission.”

The Speaker of the Parliament directed the Committee to continue its work during the legislative holiday in order to interview the candidates and sort the names of candidates for membership of the Council of the Electoral Commission.

In the course of the session, the Speaker of Parliament revealed that “the House of Representatives 6 requests for questioning fulfilled its formal procedures.”

Al-Jubouri added that “the issue of Asanid revolutions around the question of granting the Minister questioned whether or not,” noting that “the House of Representatives submitted to the Federal Court an inquiry on the grounds and mandatory sent to the minister questioned, and the decision of the Federal Court that the requirements to answer questions asked the Minister questioned to provide questions And the documents and documents, on which the interrogation was based, to keep the origin of the evidence and evidence in the treasury of the House of Representatives.

Jubouri said that “the presidency of the Council will send all the questions to the interrogators for the purpose of scheduling dates for questioning,” stressing that “the House of Representatives is committed to hold the interrogators to be informed of the person questioned with the basil provided to him.”

The parliament also postponed the vote on the first amendment to the general amnesty law No. (27) for the year 2016.

The parliament also ended the first reading of the draft law of the first amendment to the law of elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives No. (45) for the year 2013 submitted by the Legal Committee.

In the meantime, MP Ammar Tohma, head of the Virtue bloc, criticized the version sent by the government to the law of parliamentary elections, considering that it is in the interest of large lists.

“It was supposed to be read the draft election law sent by the Presidency of the Republic instead of the draft law submitted by the government on the basis of Article (123) of the rules of procedure, which provided that the project is not true to the competent committees and then read it if it is preceded by a law dealing with the same subject, the elections.”

The head of the Virtue bloc said that “the law of the Presidency of the Republic included a way to distribute seats more realistic and contribute to the expansion of political participation and stimulate the increase in the participation rate in the elections,” noting that “the adoption of the mechanism of distribution of seats on the highest vote of the candidates by (50% of the seats in the constituency.)”

MP Ammar Tohma said that “the same project of the government included in some paragraphs the replacement of members and the distribution of seats within the list one of the highest voice among the candidates is further evidence on the reality of this proposal and achieve justice to a higher rate than the government project.”

ERBIL — Former Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-Maliki,with the support of Iran, has been preparing for a coup attempt to take over the power in Iraq and the US has warned the central government of Baghdad.

According to a report by Turkiye Gazetesi, Nuri Maliki, who is currently the Iraqi VP, has established a parallel army within the official Iraqi army while he was in power in 2006-2014.

Relying on diplomatic sources, the source said that the United States has officially requested the Iraqi government via President Trump's advisor Jared Kushner to remove of 785 military officials from the government.

The US delegation has informed the Iraqi government that these officials are receiving instructions from the commander of Iran's Quds Brigade Qassen Soleimani and that they are acting on Maliki's order.

"The United States has called on the Iraqi official administration through President Trump's senior advisor Jared Kushner to suspend 785 senior officers in the army, security forces and directors of the key departments," Secretary General of the European Department for Security and Information, Haissam Bou Said said on Tuesday.

He added that the US believes that those officials are implementing the Iranian agendas, specifically the agendas drawn up by Major General Qassem Soleimani, Iran's Quds Force commander, with support from the Iraqi VP Nuri al-Maliki.

Maliki served as the Iraqi PM from 2006 to 2014 and has been blamed for the security failure and corruption in the country.

Moreover, during his reign, hundreds of Sunni figures and officials who opposed Iran's interventions in the Iraqi internal affairs were assassinated.

(When will they deal with the Iranian influence in the internal affairs of Iraq and the patsy Mori al-Maliki? Don’t they understand this is at the heart of most of their issues and terrorism? )
