Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi and Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani discussed in a telephone conversation the situation on the ground in the war against the organization calling.

"Barzani congratulated Abadi on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, as well as the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces against" Daash "and the liberation of the district of Tal Afar in the province of Nineveh.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi held telephone talks with Kurdistan Regional President Massoud Barzani in several files, especially the latest developments in the situation related to the fight against the organization and the military coordination between the two sides.

For the first time in nearly a quarter of a century, the Peshmerga forces fought alongside the Iraqi army as part of the battle in Mosul, a move considered by Iraqi officials as a "historic" response.

The area under its control has shrunk dramatically, losing its main strongholds throughout Nineveh province in 10 months of fighting.

The Kurdistan Regional Presidency said in a statement that during a telephone call between Barzani and Abadi discussed "the situation on the ground on the fronts of the war against terrorists is calling."

The statement said that Barzani congratulated Abadi on the victories achieved by Iraqi forces in the battle to regain control of the city of Tal Afar.

Iraqi forces seized Tal Afar and surrounding areas in a nearly 10-day campaign under air cover from the Washington-led international coalition.

This comes as the attention of the Iraqi forces and Peshmerga forces to Hawija, which is the last strongholds important to the organization of Dahed in the northern regions of Iraq.

The battle of Hawija probably requires cooperation and coordination between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad, where the Peshmerga is surrounded Hawija from Kirkuk.

The Presidency of Kurdistan said that Barzani stressed during a telephone call with Abadi, "the need to continue coordination and cooperation between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army forces in the war against the terrorists are urging."

The statement of the presidency of the province did not contest whether the two sides discussed the battle to regain control of Hawija or the file of the independence referendum in Kurdistan.

Abadi praised the cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi forces, which was repeated by Iraqi and US officials later.
