UN Security Council: dialogue continues between Baghdad and Erbil to address "controversial issues"

BAGHDAD - President Fuad Masoum on Friday welcomed the UN Security Council's declaration of renewed adherence to the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Iraq, noting that dialogue is continuing between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil to address "contentious issues".
"The dialogue is continuing and will continue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to deal with all the contentious issues," Masoum said in a statement received by Iraq News. He stressed the need for "all parties to unite in order to sustain the momentum of the victorious armed forces' victory over terrorism."
He praised the importance of the call by the Security Council to continue dialogue among Iraqis to solve any internal problem within the framework of the Constitution and through consensus solutions supported by the international community, and in the permanent protection of the interests of all components of Iraq, and promote a fair and developed federal democratic system, Political and economic progress, "praising" the Security Council's affirmation of the priority of efforts to ensure the voluntary and safe return of more than three million displaced persons and refugees to their homes.
