Kurdistan: dissolve the referendum council and form a political council to deal with its results

A member of the Kurdistan Referendum Council Khalil Ibrahim, on Sunday, the dissolution of the Council and the formation of a political council to deal with the results of the referendum, and between the Kurdistan part of Iraq until the moment, he stressed that independence will remain the strategy of the region.

Ibrahim said during a press conference held in Erbil, "Now Kurdistan decides to dissolve the referendum council and work on forming a political council to deal with the results of the referendum," noting that the Kurdish leadership is unified.

"We welcome the initiative of Mr. Sistani and emphasize the language of dialogue and carry a message of peace for all," he said. "We will not be a threat to anyone or cause of instability in the region and we will not violate international laws and rules."

"We want dialogue with Baghdad and all regional and international parties and open agendas and are prepared to discuss all issues and independence will remain our strategy," he said. "We are part of Iraq and Iraq, our country until this moment."

The deputy head of the Change Bloc, Amin Bakr, announced Sunday that his bloc would take the initiative to end the crisis between Baghdad and Arbil and re-establish bridges of dialogue on the pretext of the religious reference, while the policy of collective punishment and the use of force will only increase the destruction and social disruption.

The Kurdistan Regional Parliament on Saturday welcomed the initiative of religious authority Ali al-Sistani to calm the situation.

The Kurdistan Region and some of the disputed areas (September 25, 2017) witnessed the referendum on the secession of the region as an independent state from Iraq, despite the rejection of Baghdad, regional states and the international community, as well as Kurdish parties.
