Abadi announced the opening of the dialogue with the Kurds
Prime Minister Haider Abadi opened the door of dialogue with the Kurds and his willingness to start talks with them.
"The federal government in Baghdad has not closed the door to talks with the Kurds, but they refuse to hold any conditional talks," Abadi said in an interview with the weekly Kurdish weekly Ziyan published on Sunday.
"Abadi also refused to hold any dialogue with the officials of the Kurdistan Region on the results of the referendum on independence of Kurdistan, which took place on the 25 of last September," calling on the President of the Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani to "retreat from the results of the referendum."
"The absence of Jalal Talabani led Barzani to seek to divide Iraq and to follow what he called the unilateral authority," Abadi said, accusing him of "exploiting the feelings of the people of the region for remaining in power."
