Central Bank launches the National Payments Council

The Central Bank revealed the launch of the National Payments Council, while stressing that it came after the availability of the basic rule to build the technical infrastructure and legal systems of payments in Iraq.


The bank said in a statement received «morning», a copy of it, that «the governor of the Central Bank Ali Mohsen Ismail Alalak chaired the first meeting of the National Payments Council, which includes the Central Bank of Iraq and government banks and the Association of Iraqi private banks and electronic payment companies and representatives of the security services and the Iraqi market for securities Finance, Media and Communication Authority and the Ministry of Finance ».




"The importance of this council is to build a strong relationship between the stakeholders and the financial and banking sectors," he said, noting that "it did not start until the basic rule for building the technical and legal infrastructure for the payment systems in Iraq was established. 40 percent of the world's central banks have set up payment boards in their own countries. "
