A parliamentary source reported on Sunday that the Office of Financial Supervision has withdrawn the protections of former members of parliament and canceled their allocations for the purpose of pressureing expenses.

"The government has allocated to each deputy six elements of protection after the expiration of the term of parliament since the previous sessions."

He added that "the Office of Financial Supervision issued a decision to withdraw the protections of former members of parliament and the abolition of their allocations," noting that "the resolution was adopted and entered into force from this month."

In March 2016, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi issued a decree reducing the number of MPs' protections from 30 to 16 per member.
