Announced in Baghdad today announced the approval of the Iraqi government to build a pipeline to transport crude oil from Iraq to Jordan and export natural gas through Jordanian territory and to provide Jordan with its needs of crude oil and natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas and fuel oil.

Announced the government spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh that the Council of Ministers approved the recommendation of the Committee on Energy and Oil Minister to authorize the power to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Oil in the Republic of Iraq and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jordan.

He said in a written statement received "Elaph" on Sunday that the adoption of the recommendation of the Committee on Energy on the memorandum of understanding between Iraq and Jordan come in order from the Iraqi government to develop a mechanism of action is clear and appropriate to promote cooperation between the two sides of Iraq and Jordan in the areas of oil and gas production, that Iraq had large quantities of reserves of crude oil and natural gas used to meet the demand in Iraq and export the surplus in the light of the growing need to import these materials by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to support their development plans and to meet their needs.

He pointed out a that the oil ministry had asked on 1 April last authorize the Minister of Oil to sign a Memorandum of Understanding mentioned has recommended the Committee on Energy on 6 May 2012 (May) last introduced the matter to the Council of Ministers for approval to sign based on what was agreed upon in the minutes of the meeting of Jordanian-Iraqi Higher Committee shared the site on 1 June 2011 in Baghdad. Dabbagh said that the cooperation between the two countries within the Memorandum of Understanding may include building a pipeline to transport crude oil from Iraq to Jordan and export natural gas through Jordanian territory and to provide Jordan with its needs of crude oil and natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas and heavy fuel oil, depending on availability with the study of types of oils Iraqi recyclable in the Jordan Petroleum Refinery and the possibility of selling them and study the geological structures and the common fields between the two sides and each party will bear the costs and expenses incurred as a result of the performance of its obligations under this Memorandum.

Al-Dabbagh that the memorandum of understanding will define the legal and commercial frameworks for dealing in the areas of oil and gas between the two sides where the work will take effect from the date of the memorandum of understanding signed for a period of five years, subject to the approval of the extension and the two sides.
