[ltr]BAGHDAD (Independent) .. The Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in the Kenyan capital Nairobi agreement, a letter of intent for strategic cooperation and agree on a program of partnership between the ministry and the United Nations Program for the Environment.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Director General of the Department of awareness and media environmental Amir Ali Hassoun said Environment Minister Sargon Lazar صليو signed with the United Nations Program for the Environment a letter of intent for strategic cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations, adding that the signing of the LOI will provide a framework for long-term cooperation through setting goals and results in addition to providing adequate funding and implementation mechanisms.[/ltr]
[ltr]He said Hassoun said the signing of the letter of intent, which has been on the sidelines of the Green Economy, held in Kenya included (preparation of legislation and eco-systems, integrated environmental assessment, conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem management. Green Economy and Economic Assessment Panel, cleaner production and efficient use of resources, prepare reports on climate, as well as to the implementation of multilateral environmental agreements).[/ltr]
[ltr]He said the Director General of the Department of environmental awareness and the media that the letter of intent is not considered a legally binding agreement for the Ministry of the Environment Programme and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), but enters in the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations.[/ltr]
[ltr]He explained that the ministry considers the United Nations Program for Environment an important partner in the implementation of plans and programs that work to protect and improve the environment as well as projects to restore the marshes and be included in the World Heritage List.
