ERBIL, August 22 (AKnews) - Iraq's second parliament speaker said the parliament would work to approve the federal court and electoral commission draft laws.
Aref Tayfur Arf Tayfur said: "Parliament will begin its session on August 28 and its presidency has a program to proceed.
"With the beginning of parliament sessions we intensify work towards approving the draft law of federal court on condition that the Islamic Supreme Court will offer facilitation about the power of religious scholars in the court."
Parliamentarians will also discuss the increase of members of Iraq's High Electoral Commission to reach an agreement and approve membership.
The Gorran Movement, State of Law Coalition and Islamic Virtue Party (Al-Fadhila Party) support draft law to increase membership from 9 to 15. The State of Law Coalition in particular believes that approving the draft is in its interest.
Iraq's Komal MP Fatih Daraghaye stressed that with the restarting of parliament sessions, efforts will go towards reaching an agreement on increasing the members of the electoral commission, adding that there are still different views from political parties on the matter.
