Tamimi added that "oil licensing rounds caused the spread of cancer diseases in the province of Basra, officials and foreign oil companies have managed to silence the officials in the province, for the purpose of not claim to address the effects of the destruction of the environment in the province."

She explained that "one of the Basra problems related to the scarcity of drinking water, which have increased recently in the province were due to licensing rounds, where proceeded foreign oil companies to withdraw drinking water from private citizens to maintain the filter stations for the purpose of oil fields injection during the oil extraction process, knowing that the contracts licenses provide for the establishment of companies to private desalination plants extraction operations. "
