Masoum endorses the law on the seizure of the property of the former regime and the amendment of the general budget law

The President of the Republic Fuad Masum ratified the law "The seizure and confiscation of property and movable and immovable property of the elements of the former regime", as well as the "Law amending the Federal Budget Law."

According to the Information Office in the Presidency of the Republic, on Monday, the President of the Republic Dr. Fuad Masoum ratified the "Law amending the Federal Budget Law No. (44) of 2017) voted by the House of Representatives earlier in accordance with the provisions of item (III) of Article (73) Of the Constitution ".

"This law was enacted to cover the shortage of salaries of state employees, the public sector and members of the popular mobilization and to ensure the payment of pensions," the office said in a statement published by Mawazine News.

He also stressed that this law "to secure the needs of displaced persons and to pay the receivables of audited contractors from the Federal Audit Bureau and farmers' entitlements and to secure the needs of the ministries of electricity, oil and health, pointing out to be sent for publication in the Official Gazette.

The presidential press office also announced that "the President of the Republic, Dr. Fuad Masum, has approved a draft law on the seizure and confiscation of property and movable and immovable assets of the former regime." The Council of Representatives voted earlier on the provisions of Article 73 of Article the Constitution.

In a second statement, the Office explained that "this law has been established for the purpose of identifying persons involved in the seizure and confiscation of movable and immovable property under previous legislation and establishing the appropriate mechanism to terminate the detention procedure."
