BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A number of Iraqi provinces announced on Sunday they would disrupt official work in their official constituencies on Monday.

On 5 April 2018, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decided to disrupt the official working day on Monday in all governorates of Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dohuk on the occasion of the liberation of Iraq.

The Council of Karbala also decided on Sunday to disrupt the official working day on the occasion of the anniversary of the fall of the former regime, as well as "the martyrdom of Mr. Mohammed Baqir al-Sadr and his sister Alawite Bint al-Huda," as confirmed by the President of the Council Nassif al-Khattabi for Alsumaria News.

The Council of the province of Maysan, on Sunday, to disrupt the official time in the province on Monday, on the occasion of the anniversary of "the martyrdom of Mohammed Baqir al-Sadr and the fall of the former regime," according to a member of the Council Mohammed Majid Shuaa during his speech to Alsumaria News.

The Muthanna Governorate Council also announced that the official working hours will be suspended on Monday for the same reason.

US forces took control almost completely of the Iraqi capital Baghdad on April 9, 2003 and dropped the statue of former President Saddam Hussein in the courtyard of Paradise to announce the overthrow of his regime, three weeks after the military operation of the American and British armies, which began on the nineteenth of March 2003 .
