Abadi: There is almost complete correspondence with others to form a strong government of technocrats

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that there is almost complete agreement with the alliance to form a government of strong technocrats.

Abadi said during his weekly press conference on May 22, 2018 that "the meeting with the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, witnessed a convergence of views on the next stage."

"There is a near-perfect match with a coalition that is going to form a strong technocratic government," he said.

He called on the Independent High Electoral Commission to transparency in the work and to hand over the political blocs all the information about each electoral station, ruling out "the re-election, and must verify the final results well."

On the security side, Abadi said that "our main goal is to protect citizens and borders and prevent the infiltration of terrorists, and we succeeded in securing the Syrian side and eliminating the oppressors in the Upper Euphrates."

The Independent High Electoral Commission has announced on Saturday, May 19, the final results of the elections of the House of Representatives held on 12 May, where the alliance led by Sadr led by Moqtada al-Sadr 54 seats followed by the opening list with 47 seats and the victory coalition with 42 seats followed by a coalition of state law with 26 seats The Kurdistan Democratic Party with 25 seats, while the National Coalition led by Iyad Allawi, 21 seats and the stream of wisdom led by Ammar al-Hakim on 20 seats and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan on 18 seats, and other parties got fewer seats.
