BAGHDAD / SNG - Legal expert Tariq Harb confirmed on Wednesday that the government of Haider al-Abadi is still operating in accordance with the constitution, and that Abbadi continues to lead until parliament votes on the new cabinet reshuffle.

In a press statement, Harb said in a press statement that "although the new President of the Republic, Barham Saleh, assigned the independent politician Adel Abdul Mahdi, the formation of the next government, Haider Abadi remains the head of his government in accordance with the Iraqi constitution, and the current government decisions are valid."

He added that "the government of Abadi ends its powers when the House of Representatives votes on the cabinet reshuffle chosen by the commissioner headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi."

The President of the Republic Barham Saleh on Tuesday evening Adel Abdul Mahdi to form a new government, replacing Haidar Abadi.
