Minister of Commerce Mohammed Hashim al-Ani said on Monday that Iraq has begun to take serious steps to open up to the world and enter international investments to rehabilitate the infrastructure and proceed with partnership projects covering all regions of the country. He said that this is part of the mechanisms of implementation of the government program announced by the Iraqi government.
"The economic and trade relations between Iraq and India are very old and are based on solid foundations based on mutual interest between the two countries and there is a common desire to develop them," Al-Ani said during a meeting with a delegation of Indian businessmen and businessmen present in Baghdad. And activate them to enhance the trend towards increasing the volume of trade exchange and opens new horizons of cooperation as well as the importance of cooperation between the private sector of Iraq and India and benefit from Indian experiences.
"The success achieved by Iraq on the security side and the folding of the page of terrorism, as well as economic policy and openness to all, make countries and companies looking for promising opportunities in the Iraqi market, which is in dire need of international companies, as well as Indian companies and some of them have been dealing with Iraq for many years."
He pointed to the importance of its return by saying: "It is time to reconsider and come back to play a role in the process of construction and reconstruction witnessed by Iraq, the page that followed the elimination of terrorism."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Commerce seeks through the Baghdad International Exhibition and specialized exhibitions as well as the role played by the management of the file of economic and trade relations on the entry of countries and companies to invest in Iraq and the establishment of partnership projects with the Iraqi private sector which has become able to play its role in the design and implementation of policy Economic as well as role in transferring the image of Iraq's new security stable to the world. "
For his part, the Indian ambassador in Baghdad, said that "the delegation represents food and agricultural sectors of large Indian companies have had a distinguished presence in the Iraqi market and is seeking to return again in light of developments in the situation in Iraq and its political and security stability."
He pointed out that "some companies are concerned about returning to Iraq because of fears of what is happening."
