The global financial markets continue to celebrate New Year's Day as they closed their doors to investors on Tuesday on a public holiday. European bourses, including British London and Milan and the French stock market, are due to stop on the first day of the new year. The STOXX 600 index ended last year with losses of more than 13%, marking the biggest annual decline since 2008. In European markets, the German Frankfurt Stock Exchange closed for a second straight day after ending the 2018 session last Friday.
