A deputy of the construction coalition called on Thursday Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to show courage and strength and open previous files against officials accused of corruption and waste of public money, pointing to the issuance of several arrest warrants in previous periods against several officials to varying degrees, but did not do as a result of the weakness of the law.

The MP Hammam al-Tamimi said in an interview with Alsumaria News, "There are many corrupt and who wasted public money, and we believe that the time has become appropriate to show the Prime Minister by force and courage to open this file and work to hold those corrupt and those behind them," noting that " "The arrest warrants were issued in previous periods against many officials at different levels but did not do as a result of weak law and pressure."


Al-Tamimi pointed out that "the importance of withdrawing the hand of any executive officer on him a file of suspicions of corruption by his direct boss and the obligation to go to integrity and resolve the file and yellowing before returning to work," pointing out "the possession of several bodies and institutions competent to follow up corruption and waste of public money, We see accountability for any corrupt official. "

On December 4, 2018, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi confirmed that the government was serious about anti-corruption measures and pointed out that there were 13,000 corruption files open in the Integrity Commission.

Former Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, in his remarks during his premiership (2014-2018), stressed that his government has new challenges after the elimination of "terrorism" and then pledged a comprehensive plan to fight corruption.
