Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Saturday that transport and trade revenues will revive the labor market in Iraq, specifically in Anbar province.

"Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi today received Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz at the border port of Trebil in Anbar and the two sides stressed the need to authorize the passage of trucks across the two countries," the Prime Minister's Office said in a statement.


"Abdul-Mahdi expressed his happiness to launch a new stage of trade exchange between Iraq and Jordan for the benefit of the two peoples and the great flow of traffic of road transport trucks through the border port of Trebil."

"The revenues of the transport and trade movement will be positively reflected and the labor market in Iraq and Anbar province, especially along the road to the rest of Iraq, will be rejuvenated and their results will benefit security, stability and economic prosperity," the statement said.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister briefed on the progress of work in the port and the number of trucks passing by previously and after this day and their impact on the doubling of revenues.

Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said on Saturday that Iraq aspires to achieve integration, economic cooperation and the exchange of interests with Jordan and all neighboring countries.

"Iraq aspires to achieve economic integration and cooperation and exchange of interests with brotherly Jordan and all neighboring countries for the benefit of our peoples and to consolidate security and stability and achieve economic development," Abdul-Mahdi said at a joint meeting between the Iraqi and Jordanian governments. "We want this cooperation to break the barrier of fear and defeat terrorism at our common border and we are determined to move forward with this project for the benefit of the Iraqi and Jordanian peoples," he said.

For his part, Jordan's Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz reiterated his country's stand with Iraq. "Our presence in this place carries a message of terrorism and extremism, and it will be a close link," he said.

On Saturday, Abdul Mahdi met his Jordanian counterpart Omar al-Razaz at the Iraqi-Jordanian border to set up an agreement on cooperation and exchange of interests between the two countries and the opening of the joint industrial zone.

"


"The two sides also agree to sign a commercial agreement between Royal Jordanian and Iraqi Airways in the field of Code Share to enable passengers on Iraqi airlines to reach various international destinations, as well as training and cooperation in the fields of aviation and air transport Exchange of experience in the field of meteorology and ports ".

"It is decided to start work on the door to door mechanism for goods, goods and petroleum products between the two countries starting from 2/2/2019, so that the industrialists, traders and businessmen in both countries will be able to transport their goods and goods from Iraq to Jordan and vice versa. And the maximum time periods to facilitate the process of trade, according to the mechanisms agreed upon between the Jordanian and Iraqi transport ministries, which provides thousands of jobs through supporting commercial enterprises that will be established to serve this intensive movement.

"In the financial sector, it was agreed on the general principles for the settlement of outstanding issues and the amounts required by each party for the other, and the formation of a technical committee to provide final consensual solutions proposed for the outstanding financial files between the two countries."

"In the energy sector, and in view of the need of the Iraqi side of the electric power, it was agreed that the Jordanian side will supply the Iraqi side with electricity through the electrical connection." The two sides also agreed that the technical studies should be started and the necessary funding is provided. "In the economic sector, the two sides agree on the decision of the Iraqi Council of Ministers adopted in 2017 to exempt the list of Jordanian goods from customs duties, after negotiations aimed at determining the list of goods that do not cause harm to the industry and local Iraqi agriculture, as exempted goods are not produced in Iraq Or that their production does not cover the need of the Iraqi market. "

"In the framework of integration and trade, the two sides have taken many measures for the purpose of establishing the joint Jordanian-Iraqi industrial zone, which is an opportunity to benefit the Iraqi products and industries from the exemptions and advantages of free trade agreements signed by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the countries of the world and entering markets with a population of 1 billion With a large purchasing power without any technical or customs restrictions, and to form an opportunity to build joint Jordanian-Iraqi industrial integration. These procedures were as follows: The issuance of the decision of the Jordanian Council of Ministers to approve the coordinates of the site of the region Jordanian joint Iraqi industrialized, from the Jordan side, the Jordanian government has allocated two thousand acres for the purpose of the establishment of the joint Iraqi-Jordanian industrial zone, expandable up to ten thousand acres, and work is under way to take similar action by the Iraqi side. "

"In the same context, the Iraqi side agreed to lease a site dedicated to the establishment of a permanent Jordanian exhibition within the land of the Baghdad International Fair to display Jordanian products." In the agricultural sector, the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture pledged to train Iraqi cadres in the areas of optimal use of water in the field of Aquaculture and water harvesting, as well as in the fields of crop propagation resistant to salinity and in the areas of biological control and the use of environmentally friendly pesticides.

"The Jordanian side agreed to give preference to Iraqi agricultural commodities to enter Jordan in the seasons where production of Jordan is limited to these commodities, provided that Iraq treats the Jordanian agricultural commodities in the same manner, in addition to standardization of production inputs between the two countries."

"In the health sector, the Jordanian side has committed itself to training Iraqi medical personnel and facilitating procedures for obtaining the Jordanian Board of Iraqi doctors and completing the necessary procedures to extend the agreement signed between the two countries in 2004. Jordan also committed to harness all its technical and administrative capabilities to provide any assistance needed by the brothers. Iraqis in all areas of health, and benefit from the Jordanian experience in the field of registration of medical medicines and facilitate the procedures of registration and pricing and tests of competence in the Iraqi side (mutual registration) and medical evacuation and in the field of legislation And the unified procurement of medicines and the application of health insurance in various sectors.

"The two sides agreed to overcome all obstacles in the field of medical tourism, enhance cooperation between the Jordanian General Authority for Food and Drug and its Iraqi counterpart and facilitate communication between them, as well as enhance cooperation in the area of ​​reliability to ensure the quality of health services. The field of cancer treatment, enhancing cooperation between them in this field and overcoming the problem of the lack of certain drugs for the treatment of cancer patients in Iraq and benefit from the Jordanian experience in the field of computerization of medical procedures Hakim program.

"In order to facilitate travel to Jordan for Iraqi businessmen, Jordan will rely on Iraqi private sector actors to receive visa applications to Jordan to facilitate Iraqi business visas to Jordan in cooperation with the Jordanian Embassy in Baghdad."

"The ministries of industry in both countries have been mandated to hold monthly meetings to follow up these decisions and understandings," the office concluded.
