Abdul Mahdi reveals the proximity of his visit to Tehran and Washington to discuss the situation in the region

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, on Tuesday, an upcoming visit to Washington and Tehran to discuss the situation in the region, indicating that the Iraqi government moved towards a truce to spare Iraq the consequences of sanctions on Iran.

"There is an upcoming visit to Washington and Tehran to discuss the situation in the region," Abdul Mahdi said during his weekly press conference attended by Alsumaria News.

He added that "the statement by President Donald Trump last was a statement of calm," pointing out that "the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Jawad Zarif bore the clarity of the situation."

"The Iraqi government has moved towards a truce to spare Iraq the consequences of the sanctions on Iran."

The prime minister stressed "our view on the issue of sanctions and was supposed to lift the sanctions," noting that "if this continues we may reach an escalation hurts everyone."
