Former MP Mishaan al-Jubouri said Monday, that the judiciary is the last of the fortresses, and by threatening it, “we read peace to the state.”
Al-Jubouri wrote in a blog post on the “Twitter” platform, which was viewed by Earth News, that there are precedents in several countries in which the Supreme Court dissolved parliament, but the Iraqi constitution granted only parliament the power to dissolve it.
And he continued, "Therefore, I see many that the Federal Court is given a week to dissolve Parliament, or else!? It represents a threat to the authority of the judiciary, the last of the fortresses that the people trust, and with its end, read peace on the state.”
