World Bank offers Iraq three analytical reports related to the economic policy

Shafaq News / The World Bank in collaboration with the advisers in the Iraqi prime ministry released three analytical reports on the management of oil revenues , economic diversification and reform the environment legally and regulatory to attract private sector investment.

According to a statement from the World Bank reported for "Shafaq News", "The economic experts at the World Bank, Kevin Carey and Siebel Colacsz submitted these reports in an activity attended by a large number of government officials from various ministries, parliamentarians, international organizations and civil society participants, as well as media and industry representatives ".

The head of the advisers in the prime ministry, Thamer al-Ghathban said that "these reports provide many useful recommendations for the ongoing reform process in Iraq."

The economic memorandum of the country emphasizes according to the statement “on the importance of the management of oil revenues for economic diversification."

A report of the Public Expenditure Review (PER) noted to the need to spend more efficiently to improve the delivery of services in Iraq, identifies the key challenges faced by public spending in Iraq and make recommendations on policies on how to address these issues.

The recommendations of ICA include the establishment of a reform to oversee the organization of the private sector, increase the supply of electricity by public investment in power generation with enhancing the transport systems and distribution of this energy, in addition to the reform of public utilities dealing with water and energy to become self-sufficient as well as investment in new and improved infrastructure for water and transport.

The Special Representative of the World Bank in Iraq, Mary Helen Pericnl confirmed that "passing the new procurement law is crucial to the reform process in Iraq and that this law is one of the main points of a regulatory framework in Iraq."

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Policy Planning and bilateral relations, Labeed Abawi studied in the 7th of this month, with the World Bank representative in Iraq, Mary Helen, the activities and projects that the World Bank is to be implementing it in Iraq.

The Foreign Ministry statement in which "Shafaq News" received a copy of it stated that "Helen reviewed the activities and projects that the World Bank is seeking to implement in Iraq and cooperation with the Iraqi institutions in the agricultural, industrial, service and investment areas."

He added that "the World Bank's representative in Iraq expressed her hope that the bank's activity in Iraq would be a model to attract investments in Iraq and praised the cooperation of the Iraqi ministries with the Bank office in Baghdad."
