It’s probably fair to say that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has a lot on his mind at the moment, with the continuation of protests against his rule, the ongoing difficulties with Iraqi Kurdistan regarding oil contracts, and a rising death toll due to terrorist violence.

Seen in the context of these challenges, the question of his website may not seem very important, but the fact that it has been hacked for the second time in weeks, and has now been off-line for more than two weeks, is nevertheless a cause for concern.

A group of Kuwait hackers succeeded in taking over the Prime Minister’s official website and posting anti-Maliki material, following which the site was taken down.
The fact that this can happen and still not be resolved weeks later reflects badly on the country and its ability to run a competent and efficient administration.
