Oil: Basra Gas Company officially start its work in March next

The general director of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Oil Laith Shahir that "Basra Gas Company will begin work officially in March next year."

He added that "the company has been registered with the Registrar of Companies the Iraqi Ministry of Trade."

The Oil Ministry announced that the Basra Gas Company will produce daily 2000 Mqmq, and indicated at the time that the production of associated gas will be allocated for domestic consumption and the surplus of it will be exported by SOMO of the Ministry of Oil.

Iraq has signed on 27 November last final contract with a consortium of Mitsubishi, Shell companies to establish a Basra Gas Company.

Iraq loses billion cubic feet of gas per day by burning mostly in the south.

And intends to use the gas joint venture with Shell in the domestic market to meet the growing demand for electricity has issued surplus
