At an energy conference, which will be held in Iraq from the month of November 26th, major players in the oil and gas, infrastructure, finance and power industries will meet to discuss key issues. The fourth edition of the Iraq Future Energy Conference will be held at The Iraq Energy City in Basra and will run till November 28.

With the ministerial support of the Federal Parliament of Iraq, the Basra Governorate and the Ministry of Electricity, Iraq Future Energy also has a new strategic partnership with the Iraq Energy Institute, which will present the 2013 edition of Iraq Energy Forum as part of the summit. Kay Mitchell, portfolio director, Middle East, The Energy Exchange, said: “By moving the event to Basra we have secured the support of senior government officials and management from both NOC’s and IOC’s who were not inclined to attend yet another event being held outside Iraq.”

A comprehensive 3-day program including dedicated presentations covering: power and infrastructure, capacity building strategies and oil and gas respectively. Mitchell stated, “The focus of this summit is to provide direct access to regulators, engagement with policy and decision makers, and give early insight into investment plans and project announcements in Iraq.”

The oil and gas day, sponsored by the Rumaila Operating Organization, will focus on key topics such as updates from petroleum projects and licensing rounds, and current economic conditions in the Iraqi energy sector including infrastructure plans to facilitate export market growth.

Iraq Energy Forum will further explore the issues of capacity building in the country. The discussions will focus on the Iraq National Petroleum Academy, IOCs capacity building and training, as well as strategies for sustainable development and CSR. Speakers discussing power and infrastructure will provide key insights on the Independent Power Project (IPP) Program, the Ministry of Energy’s future master plan, EPC project updates and Basra government’s capital project investment strategy.
