Basra: the monopoly of the Ministry of Petroleum in Iraq's oil policy is negative

Basra Governorate Council expressed displeasure of the monopoly of the oil ministry, in a policy-making strategy for the development of the oil industry, without the involvement of local government in the management of this sector, pointing out that the province will start lawsuits against the ministry. A member of the council, Ahmed al-Sulaiti, in a press statement today, said that "many of the constitutional articles disabled and not disabled; due to the monopoly of the federal ministries powers, given by the Constitution to local councils, as well as the central government has allowed the Kurdistan Regional Government, to exercise their powers in the management of oil and gas fields , while the same article, which gave the right to the Kurdistan region, did not do in the local governments, "pointing out that" Article 112 and 115 of the Iraqi Constitution, give these powers to the provinces and the Kurdistan region, on an equal footing. And more than that, that "the provincial council held a special meeting at the headquarters of the Southern Oil Company, and the clear message to the federal government, that Basra will not tolerate and will start lawsuits against the oil ministry, if it does not apply ministry decisions of the Council." And decided to Basra Governorate Council in its extraordinary session, which was held on Monday afternoon, in the Southern Oil Company, refused to draw a strategic policies to develop the oil industry and the Department of oil and gas fields individually from the federal government, and the emphasis to be in conjunction with the local government in producing provinces, according to Article (112, 115), of the Constitution.
