Announcement of preliminary results needs at least 7 to 10 days

BAGHDAD / NINA / The Independent High Electoral Commission IHEC announced that the announcement of preliminary results of the parliamentary elections needs at least / 7 / to / 10 / days, noting that the counting and sorting operations are still ongoing in various provinces.

The Vice-President of the Board of Commissioners, Qate'a al-Zobaie told the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / today that "the IHEC cannot announce any result before the completion of counting in the provinces, indicating that the results announced between now and then are not of the Commission but by the observers of the political entities who are inside the counting stations."

He added that "The process of counting will continue from 7 to 10 days in Baghdad and other provinces from 3 to 4 days , explaining that the Board of Commissioners in the IHEC is linked to specific duration, including the consideration of appeals and complaints, which needs 10 to 15 days to be resolved, which means the announcement of the final results cannot be announced before May 25."

The process of counting of the preliminary parliamentary elections began directly after polls closed in the polling stations, while the second phase began yesterday in special centers for the electoral commission that distribute in various provinces.

The parliamentary elections were held on Wednesday 30. April, on a turnout of 60 %, according to a statement by the election commission.
