The government issued resolutions to support the national product and stop the waste in hard currency.

Saad al-Hadithi, spokesman for the prime minister's office, said in a statement: "The revitalization of the industrial sector and the protection of the national product are two main axes of the government program, as well as an important part of the reform paper presented by Dr. Haider al-Abadi, Prime Minister.

He pointed out that this step contributes to «provide a full opportunity for the domestic product and Iraqi goods to meet the need of the local market of many products and stop the waste in hard currency, as billions of dollars a year to cover the cost of importing unnecessary goods and products can be replaced with local goods, The goods to Iraq from different origins until the Iraqi market is flooded with imported products of poor quality is not available with the required specifications and has taken several measures to revive the suspended industries and the activation of other industries and enhance the level and quality of production in them ».

He explained that in order to achieve this goal, it has followed a government policy based on two tracks:

 First, to contribute to providing the requirements for the advancement of the national industrial sector, especially in light industries, construction industries and food industries, and opening the doors of investment and partnership with the private sector to restart the stalled factories and self-financing companies.




- Implementation of effective customs policy to reduce the flow of goods from many countries towards Iraqi markets, which provides a real possibility for local industries to compete with manufactured goods in the countries exporting to Iraq, especially in terms of balancing costs The local product and the costs of products of other countries.

In this context, import duties were imposed or increased on various imported goods, in varying percentages. These included cigarettes, construction materials, cement, reinforcing steel, leather products, clothing, electrical appliances and industrial materials. The new tariff and the activation of the law of protection of the national product ».

Al-Hadithi added that "in the same matter related to the promotion of national industries, the Council of Ministers approved the increase of support to the General Company for vegetable oil industry to double the amount allocated to them to enable them to provide 100,000 tons annually of edible oil to cover the needs of the Ministry of Commerce of this article, In the ration and the amount of about 40 billion dinars ».

He added that he will contribute to the rehabilitation of liquid oil and detergent production lines and achieve significant progress towards food security.

The company will also be able to pay the salaries of its employees at a rising rate and raise the burden on the state budget. The manufacture of vegetable oils and related industries of liquids, powders and cleaning materials, and will stimulate the farmers to return to the production of oilseeds and the establishment of oil extraction and age industries and the production of various feeds needed by the livestock sector, poultry and fish ponds, which will result in the provision of A difficult currency spent to import these fodder currently from outside Iraq and to strengthen the measures taken to revitalize the national industry, the Council of Ministers approved the establishment of the Electrical Industries Company equipped the Ministry of Electricity distribution transformers as far as possible for use in the tasks of restoring stability in liberated areas. In the electricity file, he pointed out that «the government approved the formation of a committee of specialists to develop mechanisms to reduce the consumption of electric power in ministries and state institutions and to determine the amount needed for consumption and to develop proposals to stop waste and reduce the consumption of electricity» .


He also pointed out that «Continuing the commitment of the government in partnership with the private sector and activating investment in the field of electricity distribution continues the assignments in the program of service and maintenance and collection, which will achieve several objectives, including the provision of better electricity service to the citizen stability and reliability and high around the clock in addition to ending multiple abuses and The frequency of the power supply and distribution network equipment, as well as the control of uncontrolled fission operations of residential units, which leads to excessive sleep of electric loads, and will lead to the cessation of the proportion of the rumors resulting from the manipulation of electricity and linkage Which has a total of about 60 percent of the total electricity generated.

The experience of implementing this program has been proven in areas where it has been very successful.

Consumption has decreased by 25 percent to 40 percent compared to 24 hours a day.

Between 10 percent for most low-consumption consumers and about 20 percent for consumers with average consumption compared to consumers.
