The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced Sunday the preliminary results of the elections in 10 governorates, while electronic counting and counting continues in 1018 polling stations.

The results were announced by the Commission on the general ballot only, which took place the first Saturday, while counting and electronic counting of the other eight provinces are continuing, in addition to the results of a special ballot that took place last Thursday, which included all military and prisoners and Iraqis abroad and other voters The private.

Al-Fateh's alliance led by Hadi al-Amiri won 47 seats, followed by the victory of outgoing prime minister Haider al-Abadi with 44 seats, followed by a coalition of state law Which is led by Vice President of the Republic, former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, winning 25 seats, and finally the stream of wisdom led by the President of the National Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, winning 19 seats.

The following were distributed as follows: Baghdad 17 Karbala 3 Diyala 2 Nasiriyah 6 Babel 4 Muthanna 2 Maysan 5 Wasit 3 Diwaniyah 3 Najaf 4 Basrah 5

The number of seats in Al-Fath was as follows: Baghdad 9 Karbala 3 Diyala 3 Nasiriyah 5 Babel 4 Muthanna 2 Maysan 2 Wasit 2 Diwaniyah 3 Najaf 3 Basra 6 Salahuddin 2 Nineveh 3)

The special voting process began on Thursday morning (10 May 2018) and the general election began on Saturday (12 May 2018).

The elections were contested by 320 political parties, coalitions and electoral lists, as follows: 88 electoral lists, 205 political entities and 27 electoral alliances, through 7,367 candidates.

The parliamentary seats were distributed to the 18 Iraqi provinces according to their respective population census. Baghdad received 71 seats, Ninawa 34, Basra 25, Dhi Qar 19, Sulaymaniyah 18, Babylon 17, Erbil 16 and Anbar 15.
