JerseyBob:  Their government does not work the way ours does at all. The voting and control bloc has been achieved by Sadr, the other fella, and Abadi, in order to keep Maliki and the Sunnis out of power and out of control.

Sadr is a King maker now, and also wants Iraq back in business for the sake of everyone.. THEY all want prosperity now, and want no interference from Iran definitely, and as little interference from the U.S.(overtly) as is possible..

They ALL want back in the international marketplace. And, they all know that the IMF, World Bank, BIS, the U.S. Treasury, and a great number of international partners (companies and Countries) are only going to be there IF they can continue to behave like adults, get along, knock off the culture of corruption, and continue to address their "CHALLENGES" as a respectable international quality government..

You can bet that The White House is involved.... No one wants a crazy business partner...

No one, going forward to rebuild this country, will tolerate another one either.. Should they falter, they also know that Iran will eat them alive, once their own distractions lessen, if there is an opening to do so...

THEY do not want that. Sadr does not! Abadi does not! And, the Iraqi people do NOT! Watch and wait!

VirginiaTheInvestor:  This may offer some comfort to those feeling "uneasy" with a tepid Abadi showing if the final results remain as reported.

The CBI is a privately owned central back, similar to the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. Private, owned by big banks in Iraq and World Wide.

If they are in control of Monetary Reform as most "believe", it matters not who the PM is, or isn't. Many "argued" that Maliki was the problem before. Was he? or was the CBI not ready and as we've seen The CBI had virtually none of their ducks in a row during Maliki's reign.

DTyler:  Go back to DC's many comments, that we might know 60% no matter what, so that 40% is still kicking us and it will be when it will be. The only thing we know is it must happen sometime. not much help for us really ole folks, oh well

RVAlready:  I actually think this was a brilliant political strategy on Abadi's part. I know we don't think like that do in Iraq, but this looks a bit like heads I win, tails I win…. I think the only way the RV would fail is if Maliki became PM.

Besybuy:  Abadi WON,

Dinan:  bestbuy...yes he did..there are 17 provinces...Sadr has won 10 thus far..I like Tony shared...he is not a legit candidate but his votes/party will hopefully form a coalition with Abadi's party.

Al-Obeidi said in a television interview (Baghdad today) that “there is no problem in the nomination of Abadi to head the next government if he made pledges according to specific schedules in exchange for his support for the prime minister, ” adding that ” Do not belong to parties and lead their positions away from the pressure of their masses. ”

He pointed out that “there is no major list is locked in the way to form the next government,” noting that “lists that have a methodology in the fight against corruption are large lists and not small.”

"Iraq's economy can be affected by US sanctions, but not as many as some expect, because Iraq relies heavily on oil imports, and since oil prices are rising, they can compensate for any economic damage on another side, " he said.
