The judiciary appoints a president and a deputy of the Board of Commissioners in the Electoral Commission

On Monday, the Supreme Judicial Council announced the appointment of a president and deputy chairman of the Commission of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission.

"The judges assigned to carry out the functions of the Board of Commissioners held a meeting this morning at the Council's headquarters, during which the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Commissioners were named," Council spokesman Abdul Sattar Birqdar said in a statement received by Mawazine News.

"The meeting also included the naming of a decision of the Board of Commissioners as well as naming the media spokesman for the Electoral Commission for elections," he said, referring to "the approach of the Kurdistan Regional Council to nominate three judges to manage the offices of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk."

The Supreme Judicial Council announced on Sunday the designation of judges assigned to perform the functions of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent High Electoral Commission, based on the third amendment to the election law issued by the Iraqi parliament last week.
