Security Council to hold a meeting on the situation in Iraq

The Security Council held Wednesday afternoon a session on the situation in Iraq.
The meeting included a briefing on the situation by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Jan Kubic.
The political scene in Iraq is a wide movement among the winning forces in the elections that took place on 12 May 2018 to form the largest bloc in preparation for its mandate to form the next government.

The United Nations on Wednesday stressed the need to be the next Prime Minister of Iraq strong, noting that Prime Minister Abadi made great efforts to respond to the demands of citizens, while considered that the scarcity of water in the southern provinces will increase and put about two million Iraqis at risk.
"The next prime minister in Iraq must be strong, especially as the security situation in Iraq is still fragile, And the integrity of the judiciary ".
"The ongoing demonstrations in the five southern governorates put the development and economic needs of the citizens at the forefront," Kubic said. "Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has made great efforts to respond to the demands of the citizens."
"The scarcity of water in these provinces will worsen and put about two million Iraqis at risk, in addition to the possibility of homelessness," he said.
