(Reuters) - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Wednesday reiterated his government's stance not to support economic sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran.
This came during a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdul Nasser al-Hamti and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi government.
"The people of Iraq have suffered from the blockade and are aware of the harm done to the people by their own actions," Abdul Mahdi was quoted as saying.
"Iraq will not be part of the sanctions regime against Iran and any other people," he said.
