Baghdad ruled out that the selection of a new Secretary-General of OPEC because of the competition between Saudi Arabia and Iran at the highest management position in the organization.

OPEC has repeatedly faced difficulty in agreeing on the position of the Secretary-General and task now comes in a time when fueled tensions Western sanctions on Iran sovereign tensions within the organization.

Each of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Ecuador also nominated candidates Iraq Thamer Ghadban position to compete candidate Arabia is the largest producer in the Organization.

Saudi Arabia was nominated in January OPEC delegate Majid Muneef for the job. Iran has said it may offer a candidate to succeed Badri.

The Secretary-General is the chief representative of the organization in global forums and help determine production policy and is responsible for the OPEC Secretariat in Vienna.

Any decision on who will succeed Badri OPEC ministers will take in their meeting held on December 12.

This position was usually the officials from small states members of the organization for the distribution of power on the scale than Saudi Arabia, the largest producer in the Organization and Iran, which was the second product before Iraq takes place due to lower oil exports as a result of the sanctions imposed on it.
