16th August, 2022According to a political source, that the head of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, refused to participate in the dialogue called for by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
The source said in an interview with "Mawazine News" that "Al-Sadr refused to participate in the dialogue that Al-Kazemi called for a meeting in the government palace." He pointed out, "Al-Sadr does not want to participate in a joint dialogue with the forces of the coordination framework."
Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi called on the national forces to attend a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, at the government palace. Al-Kazemi said in a statement received by Mawazine News, a copy of it, that "out of the common national responsibility that unites the Iraqis on the principle of preserving Iraq's unity, security, and stability, I invite the brothers, the leaders of the national political forces to a national meeting at the Government Palace tomorrow, Wednesday; to begin Serious national dialogue and common thinking, in order to find solutions to the current political crisis, and the current closures within the scope of the constitution and on the basis of the supreme national interest, and in a manner that contributes to calming the current escalation, and creating an appropriate environment for political and constitutional solutions, and in a manner that serves to achieve the aspirations of our people, and in this regard, I call All national parties must stop the popular and media escalation, and give sufficient space for moderate proposals to take their place in the national debate.
He continued: "I take this opportunity to assure our people that state institutions and security and military agencies have decided - out of national concern - not to be a party to any political dispute, and that our focus is on preventing any effects of the political crisis on people's interests and security, and we call upon the media and cultural and social elites." And politics should contribute to the consolidation of the national spirit, and not to frighten people, but rather help state institutions to carry out their tasks in the service of our people, and in ensuring security and stability.”
