Joint security operation to hunt down al-Qaeda on the border with Syria

Official security source said on Sunday, that the joint US-Iraqi forces from the army, police and special forces conducted a security operation to hunt down al-Qaeda leaders on the Iraqi-Syrian border.
The source said in statement for PUKmedia: "The joint forces of army, police and special forces conducted search for al-Qaeda leaders in Iraq."
The source added that "The operation comes after the receipt of intelligence information indicating the presence of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Emir of what is known as the Islamic State of Iraq, the local wing of al-Qaeda terrorist and his crew at the Syrian border."
He continued by saying that "forces conducted the operation along the Iraqi-Syrian border in Anbar province west of the country."
