Shahristani: reject the formation of a tripartite committee to discuss the oil agreement between Turkey and Kurdistan

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Hussain al-Shahristani, on Tuesday, rejected by the formation of a tripartite committee comprising representatives of the Iraqi government and the KRG and Turkey to discuss the oil agreement between the Turks and the region, stressing that the Iraqi Oil Ministry solely responsible for agreements with other countries in the field of energy.

Shahristani said in an interview for "Alsumaria News", "The government has rejected the formation of a committee of the center and the Kurdistan region and Turkey to discuss the oil agreements between Turkey and the region," stressing that "the Commission shall be bilateral only between Turkey and Iraq."

Shahristani said that the "Iraqi oil ministry solely responsible for agreements with other countries in the field of energy," he said, adding that "the representation of the Kurdistan region could be part of a technical committee from the Iraqi side on the grounds that the region is part of Iraq and Mnazavi within the federal government."

Shahristani said that "Iraq does not mind increasing the export of oil from Kurdistan to be provided through the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Oil Actress company (SOMO), that there are counters to see the amount of export."

He continued that "the export of oil money will go to the Development Fund for Iraq to be deducted the money owed by Iraq and the remainder goes to the general budget of the state and distributed to all the sons of the Iraqi people."

Shahristani stressed the need to "be there standards and export controls overseen by the Company (SOMO) exclusively, among them being that the sale of oil price that determines the same day in addition to the criteria that we have mentioned."

Shahristani was met, on Monday, Turkish Energy Minister Steiner Yildiz, and announced Iraq's readiness to meet the needs of Turkey for oil and gas in accordance with the mechanisms and criteria Iraqi approved for Iraqi oil marketing company, stressing that any quantity exported from the oil and from any area in Iraq should be measured by the Ministry of Iraqi oil.
