Finance is seeking to put up free zones for investment

BAGHDAD / Center Brief for the Iraqi Media Network (IMN) chaired by Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari, a meeting of the Council and the General Authority for Free Zones in the administration of Iraq.

During the meeting, according to a statement of the Ministry of Finance received the (IMN) "discuss possible ways to take advantage of the free zones and enhance their role in supporting the Iraqi economy through investment by contracting with specialized companies in this field."

It was also stressed "the need to overcome obstacles and take advantage of opportunities, and to consider the subject of the contract of partnership between the General Authority for Free Zones and Bayou BIOGH company in the free zones in the Khor Al-Zubair."

The Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations and head of UNAMI mission in Iraq, "Jan Kubiš" and discussed with him cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations in light of the developments experienced by Iraq in the current phase.

They also discussed the reform steps undertaken by the government and the importance processed in accordance with the constitutional frameworks with an emphasis on the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination between Iraq and the United Nations, to serve the reform steps undertaken by the government and in the forefront of the fight against corruption.

It also reviewed the finance minister Envoy internationalist procedures to overcome the financial crisis, including the development of cooperation with international financial institutions and in particular with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group and openness to the global capital markets.
