Iraq, Kuwait mull end of Chapter VII sanctions

The Iraqi delegation in New York discussed on Wednesday with the Kuwaiti delegation pending issues between the two countries, including ways to bring Iraq out of the UN Chapter VII sanctions, according to a statement from the foreign ministry.
"A meeting took place on 26/09/2012 between the Iraqi delegation headed by Vice President Khudair Al Khuzaie, membership of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and members of the Iraqi delegation and the Kuwaiti delegation headed by Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and members of the Kuwaiti delegation," the statement added.
"During the meeting, they discussed Iraqi - Kuwaiti relations, the importance of maintaining the momentum of meetings, bilateral meetings and the progress that was made this year."
"The Iraqi side displayed its vision for joint cooperation to address the outstanding issues between the two countries related to provisions of Chapter VII and expressed Iraq's desire to fulfill its international obligations and set the foundations of constructive cooperation between the two brotherly countries to tackle the effects of Saddam aggression, requesting the support and understanding of Kuwait state to help Iraq and its people out of the provisions of Chapter VII," it added.
