Halbousi announces parliament's refusal to vote on the inspectors and calls on the government to abide by it

(Baghdad: Euphrates News) The Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halbousi, on Thursday, that the House of Representatives is committed to the vote on the Council with regard to the offices of inspectors general.

Halbousi said in a statement received by the agency (Euphrates News) a copy of it, that "the House of Representatives voted in the month of March on the form of a resolution in principle to abolish the offices of general inspectors, stressing the Council's commitment to the vote."

"The offices of the general inspectors are still working under the dissolved Coalition Authority order issued by the civil governor Paul Bremer No. (57) for the year 2004," he said, adding that "in previous years these offices were unable to stop the waste of public money. Activating the role of the Integrity and Financial Supervisory Authority.

Halbousi said that "the competence of the House of Representatives in accordance with Article 61 of the Constitution is to oversee the performance of the executive authority, and may not continue the work of the offices of general inspectors in a way that allows the government to monitor itself through the work of these offices, and this is contrary to the functions of the legislative authority."

He called "the government to abide by the decisions of the House of Representatives."

The Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, issued on Thursday, a court order to create offices of general inspectors in seven bodies and government agencies.

And got {Euphrates News}, a document issued by the Office of Abdul-Mahdi, including: "Based on Legislative Order No. 19 of 2005 on 14/5/2019, it was decided to create the Office of Inspector General in the Central Bank of Iraq, the Investment Commission, and the Independent High Electoral Commission, Human Rights Commission, the Iraqi Trade Bank, the Popular Mobilization Authority and the National Security Agency. "

The order included the nomination of seven people for the newly created positions and 12 others as general inspectors for 12 other positions.
