On Saturday, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi criticized political parties attacking his government as part of what he called electoral auctions.


This came in a speech delivered by Al-Kazemi during a memorial service held by the head of the "Iraqis" coalition, Ammar Al-Hakim, on the occasion of the killing of his uncle, Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir Al-Hakim, by a suicide bombing in Najaf. In the speech, Al-Kazemi said, "The Iraqi people have reached a stage of despair and frustration with the possibility that the state will abide by its duties.


" He added that his government, since the first day of its formation, has raised the slogan of the state and restored its approach and building, but there are those who put obstacles in front of the government’s work.


He continued by saying, "I say frankly that I am not interested in the electoral bidding and that I avoid responding to the false lies against the government, and I kept silence to cross to safety.


" For his part, President of the Republic Barham Salih said in a speech on the same occasion: We need to review the overall political process and establish a new political contract that guarantees correcting the paths and meets the aspirations of the people. He also said, "We are at a crossroads.


Either going backward with sectarian and nationalist disputes and alignments, or progressing towards building the state, preserving its sovereignty and imposing the law on everyone."



Saleh stressed that "it must not be allowed to make Iraq an arena for settling regional scores, nor security and stability in the region without security, stability and sovereignty of Iraq and its leading regional and international role."
