Today, Monday, MP Jassim Al-Bakhati revealed that there is a preliminary agreement for the House of Representatives to vote on the 2021 budget bill next Saturday.

Al-Bakhati said in statements monitored by "Yass Iraq", "The dispute with the Kurdistan region over the region’s share in the 2021 Budget Law has approached a solution and resolution, and there is a breakthrough soon, but the region must be serious about resolving this file."

He added, "There is a semi-preliminary agreement for the House of Representatives to vote on the draft budget law for 2021 next Saturday, and in the coming days, to resolve all disputes and problems with the law regarding the region or some of the expenditures and revenues in the budget."

Earlier in the day, Representative Mansour Al-Baiji stressed that no party is allowed to try to agree on the Kurdistan region’s share of the budget for the current year, while stating that no party has the right to negotiate the wealth of the central and southern governorates and guide it to the Kurdistan region without handing over the region. Its imports are to the federal government.

Al-Baiji said in a statement that “the delay in approving the budget until now due to the failure to reach a formula to end the problem of the region’s share is unacceptable and is borne by those who delay approving the budget until now, and the country is exposed to major crises due to the lack of approval of the budget and the disastrous consequences it bears for not being approved.”

He added, "You do not agree to the expense of our governorates, and the only solution to pass the share of the Kurdistan region is to deliver oil and all their other revenues to the federal government, similar to other provinces, until we vote for them on their share of the budget, and without the delivery of their revenues, we will not allow giving Kurdistan one dinar."

He continued, “Most of the members of the House of Representatives, especially the deputies of the southern governorates, insist on handing over the region’s oil and revenues from the border ports and airports to the federal government. Without this, they will not pass the region’s share of the budget, and any party trying to agree at the expense of our devastated governorates will be held accountable within the parliament and not negotiate on the account. Our provinces permanently ”.

Yesterday, Sunday (February 14, 2021), a member of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, MP Muhammad al-Shabki, confirmed the continuation of the dialogues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government regarding the region's share in the 2021 budget law.

"The governmental and political dialogues are continuing with the Kurdistan region regarding its share in the 2021 budget law, but despite all the dialogues and negotiations, there is no final agreement for this file, which obstructs the passage of the budget in Parliament," Al-Shibki said.



"The dialogues with the Kurdistan region can be resolved within the next two days, with the continuation of the current pace of dialogues, which has been going on for days, and there are good atmospheres and solutions presented that there may be an agreement and agreement on them during the next two days, and everything will remain possible in light of the results of the negotiations," Al-Shibaki said.
