Marathon parliamentary discussions are continuing to approve the 2021 budget, despite the presence of one obstacle related to the dues of the Kurdistan region, while the second deputy speaker of Parliament, Bashir Al-Haddad, confirmed that the legislative term will not end before the vote on the budget law.

Al-Haddad stated, in a press statement, that "the House of Representatives continues in its current legislative term until approval and voting on the draft budget bill."

He added that "in the event that the budget is approved before the third of March, the holiday will be from the date of approval only, as the parliament will start a new legislative chapter, and the holiday cannot be compensated." Parliament, with full commitment to preventive measures. "

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed, yesterday, Tuesday, that it has completed the semi-final draft of the federal budget for 2021.

A statement by the committee stated that it “sent a letter on the 12th of this month to the Presidency of the Council stating that it had completed the semi-final draft of the 2021 budget project,” adding that “the only pending point is the text on the obligations of the Kurdistan region, whose details were mentioned in Article 1 of the draft law. ".

He pointed out, "The committee met with the political blocs of various components to bridge the gap in viewpoints and come up with a consensus on the entirety of the texts contained in that draft, but until now we await a final form of agreement on this article."

The committee demanded, according to the statement, "all concerned blocs to expedite their discussions and reach an agreement on what was stated in the draft presented to it."

In addition, the Committee of Martyrs, Victims and Political Prisoners of Parliament called on the Finance Committee to expedite the inclusion of its proposals, which included legal texts, including increasing the financial allocations for the institutions of martyrs and political prisoners and the transitional justice laws concerned with victims of Baath crimes and the creation of job grades for those covered by the political separation law for employees and non-employees.

The head of the committee, Khalaf Abdel Samad, called in a press statement, "the Finance Committee to defend the legal legislation enacted by the legislative authority and not allow the executive authority to pass government texts at the expense of the constitution and the law."
