The United States and Iraq sign agreement to improve the level of transparency in the oil ministry

And the Government of the United States signed, represented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), on March 17 / March 2013 memorandum of understanding with the Iraqi Oil Ministry paint frameworks support from the United States to the Ministry of Petroleum in order to improve the effectiveness and transparency of its operations.

A signing ceremony was held on the Memorandum of Understanding that the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad in the presence of Director of Development and training the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum Mr. feet Mohammad Reza, and USAID Mission Director for International Development Mr. Thomas Stahl.
The agreement provides support to the Ministry of Petroleum through administrative reform project called "coherence" and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and according to the principles of the Strategic Framework Agreement signed between the United States and Iraq.

It will also help project "thread" the ministry on improving existing services provided and taking into account the application of the principle of transparency in order to meet the needs of the Iraqi people better, including improving the practices of procurement contracts and ways to implement the management system of the new development in Iraq, in addition to the introduction of the latest computer programs used in the the management of the ministry's budget for capital investment.

This project builds "thread" on what had already achieved the "development" initiated by the United States Agency for International Development during the year 2007 achievements and aims to help the ministry in the management of their resources.


In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Raza expressed optimism that the agreement by saying, "I think that cooperation goal of signing of this agreement will be very helpful for the ministry, has already achieved a project the United States Agency for International Development" thread "impressive effort in helping ministries other in the Iraqi government, and we look forward to achieve the same progress with our ministry. " As Mr. Stahl said, "The signing of this agreement is part of the United States' commitment to help Iraq to manage its resources more efficiently for the benefit of its citizens."
