Amman / NINA /-- General Manager of oil projects in the oil ministry engineered Nihad Ahmed Moussa announced that Jordan signed the framework agreement of Iraqi oil pipeline, which will begin from the southern city of Basra to the Jordanian port of Aqaba.
Moussa said during a press conference held on Tuesday in Amman, : " The Iraqi Oil Ministry had last week signed an agreement in this regard.
She noted that the first Part of the project, which will start from southern of Iraq until Hadeetha city in the far west of Anbar province will be fully funded by Iraq as will be the completion of the second part up to the port of Aqaba would be build through investment, noting that Jordan will not bear any cost, but that the investor will bear the costs of the pipeline building to Aqaba, according to an investment principle based on the collection of revenue after operating.
Moussa showed that the first part of the pipeline extending from Basra to Hadeetha city will transfer about 25.2 million barrels of oil per day with an amount of one million of oil barrel s that will reach to Aqaba through the pipeline per day noting that 850 thousand barrels will be converted to Jordan Petroleum Refinery in addition to piping 100 million cub meters for Jurdan cubic of gas per day to be used to produce electricity.
The cost of extending the Iraqi oil pipeline between Basra and Aqaba, about $ 18 billion, and will provide jobs for more than 1,000 engineers and workers in Iraq and more than 3,000 engineers and workers in Jordan. / End
